I thought the return of The Chubman & Scrawn was an appropriate way for the Cornfather and jefbot to part ways, at least as far as their domicile is concerned. Longtime readers will note the callback to this strip (with Batman/Robin roles reversed, of course.) And I’ve mentioned it before, but just to quell the concern that’s been brought up in the comments and emails sent my way over the past couple of weeks: the Cornfather isn’t being written out of the JEFbot comic. I’m sure he and bot will be hanging out nearly as much as usual, but bot will indeed be living solo for now, which will undoubtedly bring up all manner of neuroses and drama for our geek-in-residence.

Getting banned from coffee shops and local eateries is normally an action reserved for jefbot’s sister, Xinda, but it’s probably best jefbot’s obsession with the baristas saying his name ended before it got seriously out of control.

When I’m in the market to buy a new cellphone it’s true that I consider almost everything except its usefulness as an actual phone. I bought my first cellphone, a Nokia, because it looked cool, a Motorola a year or so later because it was extremely small for the time, and my Palm Treo soon after, because I could download applications and play videos and music on it. Buying the iPhone was no different – it’s sleek, sexy, I can do more on it than any other cellphone I’ve ever owned, and I get really crappy service when I’m in my apartment. While I don’t have the luxury of having another phone with a different service like jefbot in today’s strip, it’s still worth it for all the cool stuff I can do with my iPhone. Except make calls from home.

…and we’re back! After hitting “pause” on this storyline almost a month ago so I could go off to Michigan to shoot Grey Skies, I’m finally able to hit “play” again with a new strip and the beginning of the end of this arc. As you can probably guess from the events of today’s strip, stopping the strip right before the “big moment” between cel and jefbot was agonizing, but I didn’t really have much choice. Hopefully, you either clearly remember everything leading up to this strip or have gone back through the archive a bit to refresh your memory.

Evan Diaz, the writer/artist from the webcomic Pajama Forest, provided today’s strip for your viewing pleasure. I love the thought of other characters auditioning for the “jefbot” role while I’m away. Especially a toque-wearing, robot chef with a penchant for mishearing things.
