JEFBOT.416_Bulbacorn
Okay, so maybe bot isn’t exactly right in the head, yet, but when was he ever completely “fine” anyway? At least he’s out of the apartment now, thinking about getting a new place, so that’s progress, right? And he’s envisioning the Cornfather as the pokémon, Bulbasaur, when it could’ve been way worse. Now if he starts having visions of Mr. Mime, it’s time to start worrying.
Gonna keep this short. My car’s in the shop for a little maintenance and I gotta pick it up before they close. Have a great weekend!

I will just say that things could have gone a lot worse than a Mr. Mime. The Cornfather could have been a Jynx. That would have just been downright creepy.

jefbot could totally be an aipom, KB! (my sis always did say i looked like a little monkey.) and overgeeking is always welcome. (and vaporeon is a pretty awesome pokémon to be.)
I would say I am Umbreon due to the fact I like the dark and there’s a huge meaning behind him in Japanese mythology and in high school I was the only one in class to figure out the story.
The story goes….On a dark and stormy night (no joke i think that like started here) an old traveler came upon a cave inhabited by a monkey an otter a jackal and a hare. The animals felt sorry for the man and wanted to help him. The monkey gathered fruits from the trees and the otter collected fish, while the jackal wrongfully pilfered a lizard and a pot of milk-curd. The rabbit, who knew only how to gather grass, instead offered its own body, throwing itself into a fire the man had built. The rabbit, however, was not burnt. The old man revealed himself to be Śakra (god) and, touched by the rabbit’s virtue, drew the likeness of the rabbit on the moon for all to see. It is said the lunar image is still draped in the smoke that rose when the rabbit cast itself into the fire.
The story shows that self sacrifice is the highest tenement in Japanese beliefs. I thought maybe you would like to know =)
You beat me in the geek-factor. You should TOTALLY do that as an article on the Bulbapedia. Someone there was doing articles on the Real World inspirations for Pokemon, but they stopped. It’s sad. I really loved the mythology and stuff.

yep! i love when the strip goes a little into the fantasy realm, DAS – whether it’s bot losing his mind a bit, or going into his dreams, or him fighting bad guys with a scarf – since it lets me stretch the old drawing muscles and learn new things.

i almost made him snorlax, John, but went for bulbasaur since i thought bulba looked a little more odd. but snorlax is one of my faves!
Bulbacorn is SO CUTE!!! I could certainly handle being that kind of crazy. Seeing everyone as Pokemon would be totally ok with me, compared to Ren and Stimpy. That had to have been fun deciding which Pokemon the Cornfather would be. I’ll have to ask Taran his thoughts before he sees this and see if he comes up with the same thing.
UGGGH! I was sooooo close, before I saw this strip, i said that if I had to make cornfather any pokemon i would make him an IVYSAUR. great strip bot, i love the bulbacorn!
i’ll take your choice of “ivysaur” as a sign that we share some of the same brainwaves, taranchilla! i mean, bulbacorn could totally evolve into ivycorn if corn and bot do some more adventuring as Chubman & Scrawn, methinks.

Following up on my comment to the last comic, I considered the possibility that Hawaiian Shirt Guy had disguised himself as Cornfather to get back at Jefbot when he was most vulnerable.
