JEFBOT.415_Apartment Madness
Another homage as jefbot gradually continues to lose his tenuous grip on reality!
One of my all-time favorite cartoons is John Kricfalusi’s brilliant, The Ren & Stimpy Show from the ’90s. To say that this cartoon and the comic strip, Calvin and Hobbes, are my biggest influences for JEFbot would be entirely accurate. I’ve watched the first couple seasons of Ren & Stimpy so many times I can recite most of the dialogue by heart, which is why I wanted to pay homage to one of my favorite episodes, Space Madness, in today’s strip.
Oh, and you’ll notice the Cornfather has returned. I told you he wouldn’t be gone forever! But lest you get your hopes up, he’s still not moving back in. He’s just doing a little checking in on his friend after the strange call from a couple strips back.
Eh, never watched it. But ‘bot is clearly NOT sane!
you should check Ren & Stimpy out, Insectoid! i was watching some of the episodes again to get some references for the strip and it’s still just as funny.

Oh dear… he’s gone Ren on us… tsk tsk tsk. And he’s without cornfather’s influence for how long? Makes me wonder if he’ll even last the month

Even before the Stimpyfather showed in panel three, I could hear the voice of Ren.

While Calvin and Hobbes are fun i dont follow it and the best thing related to it was a Robot Chicken sketch about Calvin in assylum. If you saw it, you know what I speak about, if not, shame on you.

and i did happen to catch that C&H Robot Chicken sketch – let’s hope that we never hear bot say, “mars is amazing” over and over again, otherwise, we’ll really have to start questioning his reality.

Wow…gonna feel so old saying this so no one judge! *sighs* My nieces used to love Ren and Stimpy when they were little girls. One of them had the stuffed cat (which one was he?) and she used to sleep with him. Mr. Pixie is also a fan of the old shows, but when they tried to reboot it, he was sadly disappointed. I never really got that into it. I enjoyed what I saw but never got completely immersed in it as the others did.
Calvin and Hobbes on the other hand…Yeah I can relate. Loved all the strips. and the affection a child can have for a stuffed animal is amazing. *carefully puts Mr. Bear in his spot.”

sounds like you have some pretty awesome nieces – i still have my Stimpy (he’s the cat) stuffed animal and a Ren! and i gotta agree with your hubby: Ren & Stimpy was only good for the first couple seasons when the creator, John K., was in charge. once Nickelodeon gave him the boot, it all went downhill.
and, yes: Calvin & Hobbes is eternally amazing.

The early days of Nicktoons…
I totally “heard” that in Ren’s voice! Ren and Stimpy was a seriously weird cartoon. I remember one time watching it when my blood sugar had crashed badly. I was in a state similar to being drunk or on drugs. That was one of the more surreal experiences of my life. I couldn’t distinguish what part of the weirdness was me and what was the cartoon. If I had had much interest in hallucinogenic drugs, that would have been enough to put me off them.
i’m happy you heard that in Ren’s voice, shanna! many JEFbot strips can be enhanced by hearing bot speak in Ren’s voice!
and i can’t even imagine being “altered” while watching R&S. i’d probably have a complete reality breakdown. glad you made it through mostly unscathed. heheh.
I always had this vague uncomfortable…ness about Ren & Stimpy, even back when I was a kid. Though now that the similarities have been pointed out between Cornfather and Stimpy, I’ll never be able to un-see it.
yeah, there’s a lot of “uncomfortableness” about Ren & Stimpy – even watching it now, Joe. i think that’s what makes it so good!

I’m almost *cough* 40 *coughcough* and yes I see the sadness of missing your “youth”. I see things a little differently than I did back in the day but I think I’m still pretty young at heart. And that’s what matters. You have to love your life. No matter what crap the Universe tosses your way,(And I’m speaking from Experience here.) it’s your life and no one can live it but you, so love every moment of it. (And P.S. The BOTiverse is totally different than the Universe. Sometimes the Universe sucks!)

Good news! I’ve started the process of getting my PS3 fixed! Oh, I can’t wait…though hopefully I won’t go so crazy I eat butter and think it’s ice cream. I had enough of that kind of behavior when I was a kid.

Oh, that really IS Cornfather! It took me a while to figure that out. I thought maybe it was another hallucination. Of course, I guess it could still be another character disguised as Cornfather. I could think of one character ( who I won’t name yet in case I’m correct ) that would want to pull something like that on Jefbot.
P.S. I can’t speak for others, but if I ate an entire stick of butter, I’d be running to the bathroom soon.
you’re wise not to trust bot’s visions, Rainey; that the Cornfather in the strip could be a hallucination within the hallucination is well within the realm of possibility, but yes: that is indeed, the real Cornfather.
if jefbot “runs to the bathroom” after eating that stick of butter, who knows what visions (among other things) could spring forth! O_o
