JEFBOT.272_Going Postal
The biggest request I get from you readers is to bring back cel and shed more light on her background. I’ve been promising to do just that for quite some time now, and by the end of the storyline that begins with this strip, that promise will be fulfilled.
The second biggest request, to find out what happened to Musashi, will have to wait a bit longer.
The third biggest request is for something I can’t detail in the blog of a PG rated webcomic.

since jefbot will have her cornered in her element this time, chances are she won’t be able to give him the slip as easily as she did at the beach or his apartment, shanna. but you never know…
and i like your dream: i’d love to be a rock star. but for now, i can only live that dream vicariously through Guitar Hero/Rock Band and karaoke bars.

thought about having jefbot using a classic Wii controller for this one, Sarah W, but i hate those things! why they make you tether those controllers to the wiimote is beyond me. they should’ve just made it standalone! so jefbot’s playing on his original SNES with the original controller, since he’s a big fan of 8-bit/16-bit gaming.
definitely keep those NES/SNES controllers out of your nephews hands! they’re deadly!!!

My pirate alter ego, Rosa De La Noche, (anyone?) has this whole back story becoming a novel thing going on (If I can ever finish writing it). She is rumored to be the deadly pirate The Blood Rose. And I play her as a complete bada$$. It’s weird, when I get really calm and speak to people, that’s when they know they are in for it. Calm before the storm I guess.

Well, let’s see… Her mother died giving birth to her, her Father was Lord Francisco De La Noche and in his sorrow, he took his daughter and his son (Older than Rosa) with him out to sea. He became known as Francisco the Fierce. When she’s older, the brother signs on to a different ship, Rosa gets to meet the sister she didn’t know she had, Mariposa (Butterfly) Who is a few years younger than her. Well they take the sister with them, under the stipulation that she be raised as a Lady so they also take the chaperone. When Dad decided to retire, Rosa asks him to give her 2 more years, she will be 18 and wants to have a ship of her own. And that is when some stuff happens. If you like, I can post that chapter at some point in the week for you guys to read. It’s my favorite one so far.

yup! good eye, Jerry! i used to love that game, and its orchestral soundtrack is still one of my favorite 16-bit tunes. downloaded it to the Wii and played it for a bit last year, and it still held up relatively well.

The colors were all warm and fun in the background, until CF presented the threat of throwing away the grand opening of cel’s family’s arcade to JB. Obviously that’s some serious business, if it includes strangulation by controller cord. (And the darkening of the background, as well as some major ninja skills if you can wrap that cord around his neck 3 times before he puts up a fight.) Good to see that cel’s back (was going to ask you again soon about her, but now that I know.. I will wait patiently and see how everything unfolds!)
I think Cf’ll need a hug after this, or revenge.. they’re both all sorts of awesome.

I had a ferral grin on my face when I saw Jefbot having Cornfather in a chokehold. For a moment there it looked like Jefbot started using his head in regards to Cel and that had me worried. Cant wait to go back to the arcade.
Anyway I was bussy today cleaning my room – a compete sorting of useless junk to be thrown out and necessary things to keep and I have come to realise a sad truth: I am a Hoarder. Seriously there was no third category just things to throw outa nd things i needed. My room is kinda barren now…

It looks like your drawing style is on the move again. I’m not sure if it has been sudden or if I just noticed it, but the CF is looking more cartoony than previously. JB doesn’t seem to have changed as much, but there are still some changes there too I think. It is really fun watching your style change and evolve over time.
Never mind. I just went back and looked at random strips in the archive, and they have looked that way for a while. I am not sure what struck me differently about this strip.
sometimes when i’m looking back over old storylines for continuity and such, i’m astonished to see how much my artwork has changed, Shanna! i think it’s held pretty steady over the past year, but even when checking out the “Beach” storyline from 2009, i can see how my technique has changed somewhat.
Digging the return of Cel. Wonder what #geekgasmic things will happen at the Grand Opening and looking forward to the progression of this storyline, where hopefully we’ll find out! ^_^

even though the current-gen systems don’t have wired controllers (unless you count the wiimote/nunchuck cables), they still make a good bludgeon.
Awesome artwork as usual man, cannot fault you in the least, but your timing! Yes i’ve not been round to sample the wares of late, (i will ALWAYS catch up,) however, recently i’ve met someone who fairly well matches Cel’s general description, (i’m sure you can understand why i’ve not been around.)
So, things are starting to look pretty good for vorbis at long last. Obviously i don’t need the ‘Bot to keep a smile on my face any more, that said, i will still need a laugh at least twice a week, and laughing at a new girlfriend is a task you should not undertake unless you’re really sure of your relationship.

ActRaiser! That was a fun game; one of the few that got me into god-ish sims later in my life like Black & White.

jb. just a quick question n suggestion. what equipment do u use in creating your webcomic and do you think that u can maybe post a video of you drawing and such until completion?
i used to sketch out the strips first with pencil and paper, JF300, and then scan those into the computer for inks and colors with a Wacom tablet. now i do the strip 100% (on most occasions) digitally, only using my Cintiq 12WX.
and i’ve thought about posting a video, as i’ve gotten requests on what my “process” is for completing a strip – actually, most people want to see a live stream. problem is, the video would have to be drastically edited and a live stream limited to maybe, one panel or so, because it takes about 6-8 hours, minimum, for me to complete a strip. still thinking about it, though. if i can get something together, i’ll definitely post something on the site or tweet about it beforehand. thanks for the interest! the more i hear requests like yours, the more apt i am to put the time into doing projects like this.
OK, first off, its about dang time. WE WANT CEL. That being said, I sit here wondering “what in the world is he doing with an SNES controller”. Granted, strangling someone with a controller is hard to do in today’s world, but I just find it crazy that JB is still messing with SNES…That should be in Mombot’s attic!
for anyone’s SNES to be locked away in an attic would be a travesty, Slave1! and i know for a fact that you have a working SNES, original XBOX, PS1, etc., so i don’t want to hear you berating jefbot for playing his!

Yeah… some of us have a working SNES, N64, AND GameCube hooked up to their tv! (And I didn’t get those till I was almost out of high school… parents wouldn’t buy that sort of thing when I was a kid. Had a Genesis at one point, but got tired of it.) Glad to hear I’m not the only 8/16bit geek around!
