JEFBOT.225_Some Rescue

Today’s strip captures a rare moment of geek bliss for our titular hero. Hope you all have friends and loved ones you can quote movies, act out scenes and basically geek out with, too.

Normally, when I write a strip that refers to a certain movie, television show or videogame, I try and make the strip funny on its own, without making the gag reliant on the reference. This is not one of those strips. I think it’s safe to say that most of you JEFbot readers are very familiar with Star Wars, but if you aren’t, why do you hate joy?

oh no they’re dieing in there and its all my fault!! lol. yay me for first post :)

    • shootzee says:

wow! you’re fast, Chris – i think the strip has only been up for a minute or two. and no need to curse your metal body: we’re all right! you did great! ;)

  2. THAT IS FREAKING AWESOME! I can just see one of Jefbot’s dolls…..erm…action figure of Luke popping his head up for air.

  3. Jeff Menapace says:

Harrison Ford is getting a lot of mileage these days ;-)

Awesome as always, Jeff. Loved how the Cornfather eventually played along.

  4. tyler_durden says:

if there’s a monster living in all those boxes i would suggest moving out!

  5. Jed says:

i can’t decide how i want to interpret the last two panels; wether Cornfather is upset at the anticlimactic box collapse because he didn’t get to play or if his thought process is more along the lines of “Wow. You guys are nerds.” pause. “Oh, who am I kidding.” picks up screwdriver and shouts into it… don’t know which i think is funnier. either way, this is now one of my new favorite Jefbot strips.

  6. Animie fan says:

did the scarf monster eat chewie? lol great strip man

    • shootzee says:

heh. yeah, Chewie’s awol in this scenario, Animie fan – UNLESS you consider Abraxas is there, howling and beating on the walls behind some of those boxes! ;)

  7. Spanky McBubbles says:

I love how Cel played along with everything! (But for me, she isn’t off the hook yet, because she has some ‘splainin’ to do!) That 3rd panel is great, as CF has the peoples eyebrow going on, as well as he himself actually geeking out with JB and Cel!! I love how you did the layout of the strip, and have to say it again: It’s good to have you back, and the site back up and running! *Super hug* :D

    • Spanky McBubbles says:

And JB needs to get a nice slab of meat slapped on that eye of his. Cel needs to tend him, and quickly. :P

    • Slave1 says:

LOL!!! People’s eyebrow! That was awesome!!!!

    • shootzee says:

cel DEFinitely has some ‘splainin to do, Spanky! as for whether jefbot can get that information out of her at this point, i don’t wanna get your hopes up. :)

and i’m happy you liked the layout of the strip – i tried condensing it down to a normal, 4-panel layout, but it just worked better with that extra big, last panel, below. i love the webcomics medium! this kinda thing could have never happened in a newspaper strip.

  8. Mr Mojo says:

    “It’s a trap!” :D

Glad to see the site back up, the way you were talking I though it would be a few weeks but you fixed it quickly.

  9. Maryz says:

I love it.Third panel is just another of yours quiet ones that get the message across. GEEK OUT!

As for the qoting of movies favourite among my friends are all starwars and absolute best *Only one thing worse than a Dragon. AMERICANS.*.

No offense, its from Reign of fire, if you were wondering.

    • shootzee says:

thanks, Maryz. those quiet moments are sometimes as much fun to draw as the action-y ones.

and if you like “dragon” movies – go check out How to Train Your Dragon. it was fantastic, imho! :D

  10. Alexander says:

“We’re all gonna be a lot thinner.” Considering that 2/3 of the people in that room might simply vanish into nothingness if they get any thinner, they’re gonna have to come up with a better plan than a shower curtain rod. :P

Though it does bring to mind an amusing picture of a Jefbot-sized Cornfather. Which then inspires the image of a Cornfather-sized Jefbot. Which then makes me think of a Cornfather-sized cel. Then I imagine inflated Jefbot and inflated cel doing the dirty, and I feel like I’m gonna throw up. Then I start thinking of what I want for breakfast, totally forgetting the previous images. Then five minutes later I get the aforementioned images again, dumping my cereal all over my keyboard while convulsing from the image of inflated JB/cel.

I think I might have issues.

    • shootzee says:

yes, true – there’s a point beyond mere scrawn-ness that would be downright unhealthy, Alexander. :)

also: you have issues but I DIG THEM! heheh. and if you’re wondering what a skinny Cornfather would look like, look no further than Michael’s website where you can see the Cornather’s real-life counterpart 80 pounds thinner than he was just a year ago! 8O

  11. Sean Luke says:

Dude. I hope the garbage monster doesn’t get you. Oh yeah, the garbage monster used to live in your sister’s room, so you should be safe.

  12. Lily says:

LOL, best strip ever! I love the movie references you’ve been using, so awesome! I’m a total Lucas film geek-girl! And again, SO glad you’re back!

    • shootzee says:

thanks, Lily! it’s been fun doing this run of Star Wars/Indiana Jones quotes and homages. i think i just needed to get them out of my system.

i love how this strip has somehow managed to attract a loyal following of geek girls! they’re some of my favorite readers. :D

  13. Funnyshaffer says:

“Don’t just stand there! Try and embrace something!” I LOVE Cel’s face in that frame… and really enjoy the layout of todays strip! Great job Jefbot! …I’m glad you’re up and running full force again!

  14. Charles says:

    Hahaha….awesome.

  15. Jason (that crazy guy) says:

The are not the droids you are looking for……

    Awesome strip man! <3

  16. Kerubim says:

Cel’s expression in her 2nd panel was scary…

I almost forgot how this arc started.

  17. Xinda says:

missed you little bro, glad you back!

  18. evilbot says:

Love your new pic on your twitter page, your hair looks awesome!

    • Shanna says:

Did I miss something evilbot? I only see the old twitter pic. Are you talking about the short-haired one?

    • shootzee says:

yeah, you must be seeing that page for the first time, evilbot. as Shanna here said, that’s my old pic. i should update it with my new, a bit shaggier-haired, headshot, tho.

  19. Shanna says:

I’m so proud of the Cornfather for getting in on the geek action. It seems a bit out of character for him, so it was a good surprise. Does he know Star Wars quotes in real life?

It is awesome that you have Cel doing the Han Solo lines. Too cool. :D

New twitter pic? I’ll have to go check it out.

    • shootzee says:

really, Star Wars is the only thing the Cornfather can get even slightly geeky about, Shanna (well, and maybe BSG, a bit). although it’s been established that he does kid parties as Star Wars characters, it’ll be canon at some point in the future that he did the “Star Wars Trilogy in 30 Minutes” theater production – which is how he can quote the lines! :)

  20. This is what I’m talking about, bot! If only Lucas had you for the prequels…but I won’t get into that. :-p

Anyway, this strip is wonderful. The room went from Indiana Jones to Star Wars in only about 3 or so strips! And the bruise on your face is priceless. And just goes to show your amazing attention to detail. Except the Cornfather looks a little too chunky. ;)

  21. Slave1 says:

OK bro…you know me…SW quote and its the best one ever :P . That being said, I am still trying to figure out what I laughed harder at… The line “Shut down all the garbage mashers on the detention level” or the fact that CF said that line. I KNEW he had geek in him…I just knew it!

As always, great strip my friend…pure genius!

    • shootzee says:

thanks, dude! with a name like “Slave1,” if you didn’t like this strip, i would’ve been disappointed!

and yeah, the Cornfather does have some inner geekiness, but only for Star Wars, and then only because he was in the Star Wars Trilogy in 30 Minutes theater production. so really, that probably doesn’t qualify him for geek status. heheh.

  22. EvilStepQueen says:

HA!! LOooove it!! We like to quote older movies…and Family Guy…that’s a really good show to quote from….voices and all…horribly LOL!!!

  23. Pixie says:

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (That’s me dancing around in all my Dorky Geek Pixie glory) I can’t even tell you how this made my day. I have a smile on my face at the end of the most boring day of my work history. You go on with your bad self Jeff! And check out CF getting into the spirit of it all. ^5′s CF….^5′s! *wipes tear* It’s just so beautiful…..

  24. John K says:

We’re fine. We’re all fine here now, thank you. How are you?

  25. Rinthia says:

Nice! CF couldn’t help his commentary, could he?

  26. Steve says:

Oh good god. Actually this raises a good question how the hell can jeffbot get any skinnier? The guy is already a toothpick.

  27. Eptha says:

All I can say is “AAAAAAhahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!”

  28. Ahero says:

    Best reference ever, jefbot. XD

  29. sybilbot says:

    Welcome back jefbot! :/

  30. calilac says:

WIN x 9000! you deserve high fives for life :D

  31. Sonitan says:

Hmmm… as much fun as all these strips are, there’s something that’s being bugging me since this story arc began and I’m not sure if Jef noticed, which means that when he does realize it, he’s gonna have a breakdown or something along that line.

(Psst! Jef, I got evil weapons of doom in case you snap into a destruction/killing spree or something!)

SO here’s what I noticed (but Jef being so happy to have Cel back, hasn’t): all his toys are… DESTROYED!!!!!!!!

    ;__;
Poor toys. If I suffer you all suffer with me!!!!!!!! <– what I would do if this ever happens to me
*glares at over-loving-baby-sister that loves to sneak upon my toys*

    • shootzee says:

yeah, jefbot will eventually have to deal with some of his collection being destroyed, Sonitan, and it won’t be pretty. he just may need to borrow some of your weapons of doom. heheh. he hasn’t really been too concerned with it up ’til now because it was a matter of survival, but now that it appears they’ve gotten everything “braced” we’ll see what happens.

  32. Raiser says:

My reaction was delayed. I read through it, blinked a few times, scratched my head, and then it hit me.

    …cel’s jefbot’s sister?

  33. faehiir says:

    …..did’nt get it. >:(

nw i feel like this huge cultural moron….

  34. JF#300 says:

    bee boop beep boo beep

  35. Purohueso says:

Constant rumbles…, that reminds me of today, yesterday, last week…, all the month, damn aftershocks, :S (I think you should had heard about the 8.8 around here)

    Greetings from Chile, :P

PS: I remember that you said a month ago about a lot of stuff piled somewhat like that on your room…, when I saw the same pile around here spread, I just thought of that, XD… I would suggest really to do something about, at least, secure any mobiliary to the walls or something like that, ;)

    • shootzee says:

wow. yes, my thoughts are with you and everyone affected by the earthquake (and aftershocks) there in Chile, Purohueso. hope you can get things back to somewhat normal there soon.

and your tips about securing things is something to take to heart for those living along active faultlines – i hope to rid myself of some of these boxes soon lest life reflect art should the “big one” ever hit here in southern california.

thanks for the comment and let me know if there’s anything i can do to help. :)

  36. Basilikon says:

So. I discovered this comic late last night or perhaps early today. I dove into the archives and enjoyed myself. Somewhere in there an income tax cheque was received, whereupon an XBox 360 with Final Fantasy XIII and GTA4, as well as a Wii were availed upon to brighten up my household. Upon returning home with my new chattels and connecting them to their requisite televisions, what did I do with my shiny new games?

I finished reading the JefBOT archives is what I did.

I hope that honour pleases you. TOMORROW I shall play happy new games. Good night!

    • Pixie says:

      WOW…Now that’s impressive. I love my video games but yes I agree…”Must…read…Jeffbot”

    • shootzee says:

as a fellow gamer, i appreciate your sacrifice, Basilikon! i used to drive home from Electronics Boutique with a new game, anxiously (and dangerously) unwrapping the cellophane to open the case just to get a glimpse of the instruction manual – so i completely understand the depth of your compliment, and am honored.

hope you had a good sleep and let me know how FF XIII is! i have it, but it’s gonna have to wait until i finish Mass Effect 2 and Darksiders.
      :)

  37. Basilikon says:

So far I’m not very far into FFXIII, as I just got Super Smash Bros. Brawl today (clearly I’m building up a solid foundation first) and was playing some GTAIV, but so far it’s VERY PRETTY. The combat system is kinda the same but kinda different but I’m so very not far into it as to have no opinion yet. So far I have no idea what makes XIII special and new as far as the franchise goes other than the prettiness, but FF games are always pretty anyways. I will let you know future opinions of it later, as will other people I’m sure. :)

  38. Mister_E says:

    original Star Wars FTW!!!

  39. plo koon says:

I have a goal in life: use every single line notable quote of all the star wars movies IN CONTEXT.

I’ve gotten alot, mostly from the original trilogy, but not any of these yet.
if this happened to me, and i survived, my life would be pretty much complete.

  40. Puck says:

Movies you can quote with your friends and/or family. . . Hmm…

Try EVERY. SINGLE. LINE. Of Young Frankenstein. Complete with accents and song.

  41. 52pickup says:

This is my favorite comic in this arc, and this is also my favorite arc in the archive.
