JEFBOT.189_Home Sweet Home
And thus, “The Beach” storyline (aka Close Encounters of the Nerd Kind) ends! Well, almost – I have a strange little epilogue for you all next week. Also, the questions that arose in this arc – How did cel know Musashi? What does she know about the aliens? Why did she leave? Will she and jefbot ever go steady and does she really like Zac Efron? – haven’t been forgotten and will be answered in future strips. Hope you all stick around as the story unfolds and thanks for all the feedback you guys have given me with your comments and emails. Keep ‘em comin’!

I love facial expresions in this, I liked what you were doing so far but lately I had a feeling, even with Cel in it, that it misses some cheerfullness. Its back and Im one happy reader.
I kinda wanted to know what except Godfather does Jefbot have hanging on his walls, but you unfocused it… Oh, well.
I jump on sofa exactly same way, though I dont have a game controler like that. I bet Jefbot used Force to summon it to his hand while he was flying… WHAT? You put in aliens in it! StarWars rulez.

and yes, star wars does indeed rule (except for the prequels), but unfortunately, jefbot has no force powers – he just grabbed the controller off the couch between panels.

the Cornfather – and his counterpart in real life, Michael – has miraculous powers of recovery when it comes to alcohol, Stan! it’s truly amazing.
Let me tell you, I am a rather anti social person. I’ll go out one night, but the next, just let me sit at my computer and veg out on Guild Wars and tv. Too many people and I get stabby!! LOL

Aww there’s Mu! He looks like he’s happy to be back with Mr. JB, and on top of that JB looks extremely happy to be home. I feel his pain in the last panel, as when it comes down to just wanting to relax, unwind with some pizza and soft drink (notice I didn’t call it pop?
)and play some video games.. I would do the same after that sort of social gathering, and all the events that followed after! *hugs Mr. JB* Looking forward to seeing how everything all adds up and plays out in the future strips! I do miss the beach strips, but the guys had to go home sometime! Oh yeah.. love how you have CF rockin’ the sunburn. 
thanks, Spanks! yeah, it’s kind of nice to have the guys back in familiar territory – i loved those beach strips, too, but those skies and oceans were time-consuming to color! i’m sure i’ll be missing the beach locale after a few strips of drawing the apartment repeatedly, though.
and yep, Mu’s happy to be back with jefbot, but… well, like i told Maryz, i’ll be interested to hear what you have to say about next Tuesday’s epilogue…
the fact that this story has taken as long as it has to tell gives this conclusion added weight. not complaining about that, understand, i’m saying well done on knowing the perfect way to cap this one off. and i will keep coming back to see these questions answered, you can be sure.
it’s hard to believe this storyline has been going on for nearly 5 months, Jed, and i thought about ending it on a bang – but it would’ve been artificial to try and dramatize it just for the sake of a huge finale, so i’m happy to hear you were pleased and will be back to see how everything plays out. today’s strip was more of a subtle way to bookmark this particular chapter, and actually – next tuesday’s strip is the real ending, which some might construe as a bit of a shocker.
I always love seeing jefbot crying….

very true, r61 – the thing that spoils all that is that jefbot doesn’t know if cel left because she doesn’t like him, got bored, he said or did something she didn’t like, etc. until those questions are answered, i think we’ve gotten the clue that jefbot’s a bit insecure around her. but other than that, yes, it was a fantastic night!
Just when he thinks he’s won, the sun burnt cornfather just brings out that cat-o-nine-tails and whips him back into tears.
at least jefbot has the satisfaction of knowing the Cornfather’s gonna be in a world of hurt once that sunburn kicks in, ZL!

I love the shadow work on this strip, it’s utterly beautiful. Unfortunately, the others are right: Jefbot’s walls seem to be adorned with some oddly geometric beige stains.

you watch, those “oddly geometric beige stains” are gonna be all the rage in people’s homes a decade from now.
