JEFBOT.165_The View From Here

I’ve had so much fun writing and drawing the past few strips, I think jefbot’s going to be leaving his apartment more often from now on.

  1. Sonitan says:

Awww. They bring Musashi with them! That’s adorable!!

Huh?! Am I the first post?!!! *faints*

Lets hope Jef doesn’t kill himself! You know, electricity and water and all that jazz? Ah, so Michael now remembers why he doesn’t drag jef out as much.

Excellent strip, jef. Can’t wait to see how many problems you’ll cause this time *LOL*

  2. shootzee says:

you = first, Sonitan! and yep, Musashi’s along for the ride in this one. let’s hope jefbot keeps his extension cord away from the water. heheh. i think it would definitely put a damper on the party. ;)

  3. Ion says:

Sweet thing about is that Musachi is also wearing sunglases, could be RayBen sunglases like the Blues Brothers got^^ (but anyhow I expect something awkwood to come up soon… like Musachi is suddenly drawing his tiny version of Reich Gärt as a magazin of his little hamsters paintball gun and shootin’ everyone ._. “the time of reich gärt returning” (so this would be crazy and musachi wouldn’t be cute anymore…)

  4. shootzee says:

yep, Musashi’s little eyes are sensitive Ion, so he definitely needs the sunglasses! ;) and call me crazy, but a tiny, hamster-sized Reich Gärt spray can for Mu sounds pretty cute to me. if memory serves, i believe Xinda still has the human-sized version, which is not so cute.

  5. Maryz says:

Im sure jefbot is going to go out more often. Its not fun only for you, you know.

Musashi in a ball is great, still stylish with sunglasses.

I hope that Jefbot will end up in water at least once, it would be a shame if he were to just geek it out by the sea without actualy tasting salt. I hope his electrical equipment will survive though.

  6. shootzee says:

glad you’re having fun with jefbot’s outbound adventure too, Maryz! i don’t think i’ll keep Mu in that ball for too long though; he might just fry in there. :) and for whether jefbot gets in the water or not – i aint telling. :)

  7. xinda says:

hi! in the 1st panel it looks like (musashi the hamster) doesn’t have sunglasses – then has them in the 2nd panel. BOLT! ps. wouldn’t it be cool if we put jefbot in a bubble ball…

  8. shootzee says:

some other readers got to this before i did (see below), xin, but Mu is actually wearing sunglasses in that first panel. he’s just turned a bit so you can’t see them as well. look again. and if you kidnap me and put me in a bubble, at least throw my DS and a few games in there with me, please. :)

  9. Hans says:

the sunglasses are there, if you look closely you can see the ear pieces and the VERY thin lenses as you see them from the side…makes me want to go to the beach…

  10. shootzee says:

thanks for pointing that out to xinda, Hans, since i was late in responding. and i hear ya about wanting to get to the beach soon. do those goggles you’re wearing have uv protection!?

  11. DaughterJudy says:

ROFL. My brother is like ‘Bot. He needs some form of electrical dependence at all times. We lost power for a week last summer and he moved in at our Aunts house. Me, I can be amused with a pile of books and a pencil and paper. Great strip ‘Bot

  12. shootzee says:

your brother sounds like a cool dude, DJ! mombot’s always asking me what i’d do during an extended power outage. i think i could occupy myself with “books and a pencil and paper.” at least for a little while.

  13. spanky mcbubbles says:

I love all the details you put into the strip. the palm trees to the umbrellas and the sand plants. the seashells and power cords as well as the birds too. Gotta love how Musashi is all ready to go with his hammy ball! JB in his regular t-shirt and jeans at the beach? Eesh! Is he at least wearing sandals? :P You would figure with an iPhone, and an iPod that would be enough for JB, but I guess there’s a lot more to it then that. Looking forward to Fridays strip, and what hilarity it will hold. Again love the details in this one!

  14. shootzee says:

thanks, spanky, glad you liked the details! and: nope, jefbot’s not even wearing sandals – it’s sneakers all the way, baby! heheh. and you’re right in deducing there’s going to be a lot more than an iPhone and an iPod to power. heheh. you’ll find out what i mean in the next strip. :)

  15. eleventeen says:

panel 1 = glorious. wow, Jeff.

  16. shootzee says:

i think that’s the first “glorious” i’ve gotten to describe the strip. thanks, dude!

  17. i see the hamster sunglasses in both panels, bot. :-)

  18. ps. all that electricity is going to give jefbot ball cancer.

  19. shootzee says:

thanks man, i let xinda know. :) and growing up around electronics has provided jefbot with an immunity to the bad ball rays.

  20. Jeff Payton says:

Way to stay “plugged-in” Jefbot!! Your fans wouldn’t want to miss one strip — they are too good!!! :D

  21. shootzee says:

ha! thanks, JP! jefbot gets really “plugged-in” in the next strip. :)

  22. Funnyshaffer says:

OMG! I LOVE this weeks! The color is amazing… It makes me want to be there so bad!!! …and I think it’s even better that you could care less… All you want is your tech set up! Outstanding job Jefbot, I’m always happy that each week tops the last!

  23. shootzee says:

seriously, Funnyshaffer – all these beach strips are making me bummed that i haven’t been at all this summer! my illustrated counterpart gets to go, but i don’t. sad.

  24. Mary says:

WOW!! Love this! and that first panel is beautymous!!!!!

  25. shootzee says:

and that’s the first “beautymous” this webcomic has gotten, too. thanks, Mary! :D

  26. I’m digging the change of scenery, Jeff. Sorry we didn’t see you at San Diego. Next time, hopefully!

  27. shootzee says:

    yes, next time definitely, Kevin!

  28. Mombot says:

Just had to say… what a great view! It’s beautiful! :)

  29. shootzee says:

thanks, Mombot! glad you liked the view. :D

  30. Zach Light says:

Ah, tech people, care alot less about nature, more on the computer and games, the joys of it all!

  31. shootzee says:

i do like playing video games about nature though, Zach – Ecco the Dolphin and Pokémon Snap! were fun. ;)

  32. Maryz says:

LOL, everybody is commenting scenery and I realised that I forgot to mention ship that looks like aircraft carier in background, I know its cargo transport, but still, the resemblance is there.

  33. shootzee says:

that could very well be an aircraft carrier in the background, Maryz. maybe the Navy knows something the characters don’t? hmmm… :)

  34. John K says:

Wow, another gorgeous strip! You’re art just keeps evolving and evolving. Really beautiful!

  35. shootzee says:

thanks, jk! i’m trying to keep it evolving! :)

  36. D. Long says:

LOVE the artwork here. Also, funny strip. I’m a fan.

  37. shootzee says:

    awesome! thanks, D. Long! :)

  38. Shan says:

I hope they remembered their sunscreen…..

  39. shootzee says:

    the Cornfather remembered, Shan. :)

  40. Foxmouse says:

Hi again, BOT! I return to posting my awkward comments on your comics.

Just don’t call it a come back.

Why do I get this feeling that the moment JefBOT removes any clothing all surrounding areas will burst into flames due to the blinding white light that is his un-tanned bod?

  41. shootzee says:

welcome back, Foxmouse! glad to see you here on the site again, we’ve missed you. :) you might be surprised – since he’s only 50% caucasian, jefbot’s skin isn’t as pale as you’d think it would be from him spending most of the time in his dark lair and away from the burning light of the sun.

  42. Anonymous says:

JefBOT goes outside his apartment…wait there could be more? And I will enjoy looking at the new strips with an extension cord running through each of them… So clever and beautifully done! :)

  43. shootzee says:

domo arigato, Anonymous! you’re right – we’ll be seeing more of that extension cord in the very near future. :)

  44. Eptha says:

LoL @ Foxmouse I’d have to agree with that assessment….I’ve actually had that happen to my un-tanned hide….Just kidding, but I do think there were some people and small animals that were rendered blind by the sight :P

  45. shootzee says:

ha! jefbot might not be ghostly white underneath that shirt, Eptha, but the Cornfather definitely is. maybe that’s why Musashi’s wearing those shades? :)

  46. This is gorgeous, bot! You’ve really transcended the comic world in this one and have moved to Van Gogh. Just gorgeous, man. And I love how you still keep that jebot humor alive with bot searching for an outlet. Tremendous work, man. Oh, and I totally see the sunglasses on the animal in the ball in the first panel, too. B)

  47. shootzee says:

wow! thanks for the huge compliments Michael! i’ll try not to cut off an ear… heheh.

  48. speearr says:

Hey neato palms! And coconut trees? I love this beach. It’s also funny how Jefbot is kinda overdressed for the beach.

  49. shootzee says:

yep, no tree discimination allowed on this beach, speearr! and yeah, apparently jefbot doesn’t own a swimsuit. :(

  50. Trevory says:

I really hope you make a story when there’s a power cut, or some sort of electricity ban in thier area… Jefbot’s reaction will be truly priceless (hey! he might even turn insane!)

  51. shootzee says:

it’ll definitely be a storyline i’ll explore, Trevory: “jefbot: unplugged.” heheh. not just yet, though.

  52. Maryz says:

Trevory, I dont doubt he has some emergency backup generator stored somewhere.

  53. shootzee says:

    very true, Maryz. very true.

  54. Ion says:

Real guys power there beloved computers with LOVE. el to the u to the vi! So you don’t need generators! (despite that jefbot still got Musachi who might be able to power up anything by running the wheel “hell yeah”)

  55. shootzee says:

hmmm… maybe jefbot could make a human-sized hamster wheel for the Cornfather to generate some power too, Ion. ;)

  56. Natalie says:

Aw. :] The hamster has glasses, how cute. <3

  57. shootzee says:

yup! Musashi gots ta be stylin’, Nat. :D

  58. Deaconvorbis says:

Woo-hoo, my (the public library’s) net connection is back up. I really gotta get my own (or start stealin’ a neighbour’s wi-fi). Beautiful strip dude, lighting kinda reminds me of St. Ives in Cornwall. Love the idea of haulin’ copper to the beach. Nowadays when i’m out ‘n’ about i’ve got a coupla cheap and laptop sized briefcase solar panels. If the basta fire ball wants to give me cancer i’m gonna power some electronic fun from it’s rays.

  59. shootzee says:

thanks Deaconvorbis, glad you’re back! i, um, “borrowed” my neighbor’s wi-fi a few years back for a little while until he locked it down. was nice while it lasted, though. solar panels!? awesome. gotta get me some of those! :)

  60. TCC says:

you are now one of my favorite comics…. FEEL HONORED!! >_<
