JEFBOT.77_The Short03

I have a feeling the scenario presented in today’s strip will be familiar to many readers who have been on a set, as an actor or otherwise.

  1. I spent 12 hours on set waiting for my scene during a student project. Didn’t get to any of my scenes that day….

  2. Laura says:

Heh. Brings back memories, especially of Tech day. “Places for the top of act II!”

Four hours later. “Okay, for real this time, Places for the top of act II!”

  3. funnyshaffer says:

Not so much fun, as just sadly true! Much like waiting at a doctors office, or for an operator at Time Warner Cable!

  4. 3lla says:

    NO WAIZ.
    Jeffbot is reading Twilight. D:

  5. shootzee says:

    heheh. good eye, 3lla.

  6. xinda says:

    have you started “eclipse yet”

  7. xinda says:

i tried to listen to your interview on “it only gets worse” but i can’t connect, its going krazy trying to find my timezone. please send help…

  8. shootzee says:

xinda, the easiest way to hear it is to go to worstshowontheweb.com then click on “the archive” link. you should then see a couple audio players on the lower left hand side. mine’s the one on the bottom (i think) titled, “Grand Opening.”

and no, i haven’t started “eclipse” yet. i’m going to take a break and read something else or play a game before i move on to that book.

  9. Awesome, as usual, bot! Someone said that acting is fun. You get paid to sit around. I wish I knew who said that. Really solid, man. Love the colors, how you convey what bot’s going through through his facial expressions. This is yet more evidence as to why you are the greatest WEBARTIST in the UNIVERSE!!!!

  10. Jeff Payton says:

Thanks for a good laugh in a rather grim week…YOU ROCK JEFBOT!!!

  11. shootzee says:

um, gee. thanks, michael. i never know quite how to respond to your comments.

and jeff payton – sorry about the “grim” week, man. glad you got a chuckle out of the strip.

  12. Wil says:

This is why I had so many Warhammer figures when I was in high school; I painted them during my down time when I was doing TNG, because they were easy to pick up and put down, and didn’t break my weird actor concentration like reading a book would have.

That moment in the last two panels, though? Priceless. You nailed it, man.

  13. shootzee says:

thanks, wil. when i was a kid i bought a bunch of paints, brushes, middle earth figures and macross models, but never ended up actually painting them because i didn’t want to ruin their pristine nature. i think i still have them tucked away in a box somewhere, actually. *sigh*

  14. John K says:

Jefbot and his love of “pristine nature”.

Great strip, man! I hate the hurry up and wait aspect of acting.

  15. Heather says:

I love that book. Nice choice. Most guys are to “manly” to read it.

  16. shootzee says:

ha! yeah, “manly” has never been a concern of mine, really. my sister, linda, gave me that book a while ago and i finally finished it last week. didn’t quite love it but looking forward to reading book 2.

  17. [...] ALERT: Eagle-eyed readers noticed jefbot reading Twilight a few months back in this strip (fourth [...]

  18. DaughterJudy says:

    Zomg…. twihard…

  19. Tiana says:

    Ugh, Twilight…

I have fortunately avoided much of this by virtue of being tech *and* actor on most of the student projects I’ve worked. So while waiting for my shot, I help hold the boom mike, adjust lighting, even shoot some scenes the director was in (he was foolish and cast himself as the main character; as a result, my scenes were amazing, but his sucked).

  20. Amai says:

It makes me sad to see that book in this comic

  21. shootzee says:

this strip came out before all the movie hype about Twilight and before i knew how boring a read it’d be. i was going to have a follow-up strip where jefbot confronts his sister, Xinda (who lent him the book), but didn’t want to waste the energy. i actually might swap the book out with something better when i publish the strips.

  22. lillianaa says:

Oh noes! Twilight! I’m sorry… That just doesn’t seem like a good choice in my opinion (*Shudders* Sparkly vampires)

  23. xero says:

if you decided to kill time reading twilight i have NO sympathy for you jefbot

  24. Estongdakila says:

And everybody forgot about the comic and started trying to be cool by hating Twilight.

C’mon, everybody knows Twilight sucks but after the first comment about Twilight you should just shut up about it.

I’ve been backreading (again) and this is the first time I’ve bothered to actually read the comments. Looks like I’ve been missing out on a lot of comedy!

  25. TheOldBear says:

    /rant on
….. *sigh* I have said it before. I will keep saying it. Get rid of those stalker pretty boy sparkly ass sissies! It isn’t romantic. It’s pathetic. You are talking about giant undead mosquitos, people! Predators! Look up Nosferatu. That is what they are.
    /rant off

Other than that, great comic all around! Cept for the iphone fanboyism…but I will forgive you for that. This time. *glare*
